Phea's Birthday on Merdeka Night

31st August, a date which all Malaysians should know about it. But I'm not going to talk about Merdeka Day now. On the same day, it is Phea's birthday also!! For sure, we held a birthday celebration for him.

Due to the Malaysian Night event that held on 30th August to celebrate Merdeka, we have to split ourselves into two so that we will celebrate both at the same time. (WTH?) First we attended Malaysian Night which got a lot of great performances. Affter Malaysian Night ends, we quickly set up a birthday celebration in lower lounge. Ee Hiang is the leader, and she prepared everything. After we set up and get ready, Zhi Jun went to call Phea to come. (Before that he was studying in Thierry and Alex's room) When he come to lower lounge, we turned off the light, and a cake came out from no where, to give him surprise. HAHA. fun? YES!

It's Archi Boy's birthday today. He's been bugging me to do a write-up about last week's celebration, so here it is.

Well, there are so many things to write about that special birthday celebration. Should I start with how difficult it was to get Chao Yian to come to the kitchenette when he was all around the hall? Or the unsuspecting Thierry thinking that we were about to celebrate just Chao Yian's birthday, not knowing that he is going to be one of the stars of the night as well? LOL... a picture speaks a thousand words, so I'll just let the pictures talk.

The birthday cake presents a dilemma. How many candles? 20, 21? In the end we decided that we put 20 and Chao Yian hold the last candle ;)

BAK KUT TEH dinner in Block 2

First I want to ask for apology due to the delay of this Bak-Kut-Teh dinner post. Currently I'm busy with float or rag, no time for me to touch my computer.
3 months holiday, most of the people are having fun time at home, left us who are committing to Holiday Comm in hall. All of us were running out of mind where to have our dinner! Suddenly someone suggested to have a Bak-Kut-Teh dinner. Talking about Bak-Kut-Teh, miss Swee Yee from Penang was very excited, it is time to show her kitchen skills!! haha.... and another chef, Mr JonTan also joined in to cook.
7.30pm, they started to cook (actually i was very hungry at that time). Ingredients are ready, Bak-Kut-Teh pack, onion, chicken, Tau-Pok and mushrooms are all nicely cut.

"Unofficial" Block 6 Outing

Why does it is described as "unofficial"? It is because the outing was planned half an hour before we depart from Raffles Hall. Cool? On that time, some of them just finished their exams, some of them are going home tomorrow, some of them are not staying hall next academic year, and me? Still staying but someone forced me to go. Haha.

We went VIVOcity around 9pm plus. Our depart time is quite late due to an ordinary reason, GALS!!!!!

29th of March, we gathered again in Block 6 kitchenette for steamboat dinner. You might ask: why suddenly we have steamboat in hall? It is because Dr. Alex found a electric induction heater (actually is from JanuaryJon, TQ Jon!!). We (thierry and alex) invited a lot of people, I guess every blocks got their "representatives". Lee Zhun Hong(Lee Hong) and Jerome from Block 3, Gail and Lin Yan from Block 4, Wei Jian from Block 5, and of course Block 6 geng!

Block 6, Fittest Block!

Today, our block ruled the games in Fitness Day held by Outdoor & Fitness Committee. First event was Mass Run. A lot of people from our block successfully ran in the period of time. And for your information, Alex is the first runner who reached the end point. Next, our block who leaded by JCRC(the touch-rug group) beated other blocks in chin-up challenge. After that, we have Shootmaster which six participants must throw respective balls into respective holes. We did it quite successfully and finally we won the champion for Tug-of-War. Well done block 6!!

After that, Alex and YuanMei who were the first runners(for block six only) that reached the final point, also won small games that prepared from Outdoor & Fitness Committee. Alex won himself a Gym Bag and Fat Calculator, while Yuan Mei won a Nike Bottle(i think so). Our block also won the overall champions and the prize are two Massage Figure Twisters. So now, if you go to kitchenette, please go and twist your body for 10 minutes, then you will become fit one day in the future!!

A Tribute to Papa Phea

Aloha Block 6 people! I'm your friendly guest writer!

Last Friday night (or was it Saturday morning) we had this nice, small gathering with our Papa in RH block 6 kitchenette. It might be the last time together there, but 'might' is the operative word here... for who knows, the next reunion will be right around the corner!

Here are some pics we took...

Block 6 is never short of generous contributors when it comes to FOOD... so watch Swee Yee and Zhi Jun enjoying the late night supper :)

OK, back to the topic. As most of you must have known, Phea has left hall this very day (03 Feb 08) because he has acquired a post in NUS High School Residence. It is but a mere 10 minute walk from Kent Ridge Campus, but his not being in hall will of course shorten our time of being together, having meals, celebrating birthdays or just laughing and talking together.

Phea's cheerful and friendly nature has made him very well-known not only in Block 6, but to other residents of the hall too. This multi-talented Cambodian guy is good at many forms of sport, at cooking, and best of all, he's good at making people laugh! Truly, with his absence, Block 6, and our hall as a whole have lost a friend who can bring joy and cheer into our hearts.

Thierry has requested for this song to be included in the blog. It's a Malay version of Auld Lang Syne (at least it's sung in that tune).

Let us learn to let go, but not forget; but use our memories as stepping stones to sustain and strengthen the friendship we have, in a different but more meaningful way.

Christmas Dinner! HoHoHo!

On 25th Dec, Swee Yee, Zhi Jun, Phea and me already back to Raffles. Since we can’t celebrate this special day with our family, we celebrated Christmas with our friends here. That's a new experience also. Thus, we planned to have a Christmas dinner in Block 6.

After shopped for our all the materials (food lar…), we started to cook at 5pm. Although it just a simple meal with pasta, salad and roasted chicken from Cold Storage, but we enjoyed it. We also invited Chong Yee (if you read my previous posts, you sure will know him) to join us, more people merrier I guess. Ee Hiang also came back to Raffles just to join us for dinner. Nice one!

Time Check! Oh! Over 12am! Today is 7th Dec! That is Ee Hiang's birthday!
Without any signal, a bunch of people (Phea, Alex, Swee Yee and Gail) rushed from Block 6 to Comm Hall to celebrate Ee Hiang's birthday. That time, she was doing christmas deco with wen qiao, caleb and me in Comm Hall for A&G. Phea and Alex prepared a cake, uh, a cake? Look clearly, it's a bread with a lot of coffee powder on it (PS:Birthday girl is addicted to coffee). And on top they wrote "HAPY BDAY" with chilli sause (not sure if is chilli or tomato).

Specially made my Alex and Phea, Ee Hiang doubts what's on that bread... We didn't told her what's on the top until she eat.

Ee Hiang : Err... dark grey color... pepper? Hope not...

Ee Hiang : Are you sure it is eatable?

Pasta Dinner Plus Special MEATBALLS

This is LEGGO'S, not PREGO, but also tasted like PREGO. Haha....

Exam period, everybody is busy studying. Thus, for saturday night like this, normally we cook ourselves in kitchenette. Utensils are ready (although a bit dirty), but the most important thing is the chef. Tonight, our main chef, Phea is not in, so Alex will be the main chef, while two girls, Swee Yee and Zhi Jun help him on the way....

OK, tonight we got tomato spagetti with big meatballs.

30/11 Swee Yee and Ee Hiang's Birthday Celebration

Again, birthday celebration on exam period. This time, we celebrated two persons' birthday : Swee Yee (1st Dec) and Ee Hiang (7th Dec). This is because on 7th Dec some of us will go back home and won't be in hall. Thus we celebrate now together.
This birthday celebration is the collaboration of two architecture students, Tirza and Thierry. We bought the cakes from Clementi and Alex prepared special drinks for us. We also prepared two birthday cards for two birthday girls. Surprisingly, we invited Swee Yee's good friend, Chong Yee who stayed in Temasek Hall to join this party.

24/11 Alex's Birthday

Me and birthday boy, Alex, who is more handsome? Haha... took in our room after his birthday celebration.

We celebrated his birthday on that night(24th Nov), with one hour before the day passed. We didn't celebrate on 23rd Nov night, because most of us got exam on 24th Nov. After our exam, we started to prepare for this small party. Around 7pm, I realised that Alex went out to meet his churchmates. But that is good for us, so that we can prepare in kitchenette while study for the next exam. Around 10pm, we settled everything but Alex still not in yet. I waited inside my room until 11pm where Alex came back from outside. I tried to make sure that he stay in room while sms-ing other people to get ready. After a while, all people came to my room with cake and sang birthday songs to Alex. We enjoyed the cake and have some present-giving session. Then, we ended the party around 12.30am.

Memetik ciku, in malay, is pluck ciku. One day, we realised that beside our hostel got ciku trees there, and a lot of ciku there. Haha. That time, nobody realised the existance of ciku trees. So, leads by Mr. Phea, we attacked the trees and grabbed all the ciku, and soon, we will have CIKU PARTY!!! Haha......
